Good Omens season 3 has premiered on Prime Video, but fans were surprised to find that the latest installment consists of only one 90-minute episode. This marks a departure from the first two seasons, which each featured six episodes.
The fantasy series, adapted from the 1990 novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, centers on the unusual friendship between demon Crowley, played by David Tennant, and angel Aziraphale, portrayed by Michael Sheen, as they work together to prevent the apocalypse.
Initially, Prime Video announced in 2023 that the third season would include six episodes. However, plans changed after Neil Gaiman stepped away from the production following sexual assault allegations against him, which he has denied. Consequently, Gaiman was not involved in the final stages of production, and his company, Blank Corporation, did not participate as filming proceeded in Scotland.
Instead of spreading the story across multiple episodes, the concluding chapter was condensed into a single feature-length finale designed to provide closure to Crowley and Aziraphale’s narrative. This change in format has elicited mixed reactions online, with some viewers appreciating the concentrated emotional storytelling, while others questioned whether one episode was sufficient to wrap up the beloved fantasy drama.
In a significant development, Prime Video confirmed that season 3 is the final installment of Good Omens, with no current plans for a fourth season. Nevertheless, for devoted fans, this last episode offers one final journey through the quirky and chaotic world that has made Good Omens a cult favorite.
