The Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert forecasting rainfall in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next two to four hours. Areas expected to experience precipitation include North Waziristan, Kurram, and Parachinar, along with Kohat, Orakzai, Bannu, Peshawar, Charsadda, and Haripur. This widespread rainfall is anticipated to impact a significant portion of the province.
Meanwhile, additional districts such as Khyber, Nowshera, Dir, Swabi, Drosh, Shangla, Buner, Swat, and Kalam are also likely to see rain during this period. In a significant development, officials have cautioned that some locations may experience hailstorms alongside the rain, prompting warnings for residents to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety amid the deteriorating weather conditions.
Notably, in District Khyber, strong winds combined with rain have already created storm-like conditions, signaling the intensity of the approaching weather system. In Peshawar, the situation has been particularly severe, where powerful windstorms have darkened the daylight hours as dust-filled gusts swept through the city. These strong winds have also reduced visibility, causing challenges for commuters and disrupting normal activities across several parts of the city.
The Meteorological Department has further indicated that the rain is expected to continue in Peshawar today and tomorrow, suggesting a prolonged period of unsettled weather. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines as the province braces for these adverse weather events.
