Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed that Pakistan is actively coordinating with the United States and other involved parties to ensure the safety and swift repatriation of 11 Pakistani seafarers currently aboard vessels seized by US authorities.

These vessels, which also carry 20 Iranian seafarers, are presently located near Singaporean waters. Pakistan’s Foreign Office and relevant agencies are engaged in close communication with US officials and other stakeholders to safeguard the welfare of its nationals and expedite their return.

In a significant development, DPM Dar held separate phone conversations on Thursday with the foreign ministers of Iran and Singapore as part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. During his discussion with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Dar sought Singapore’s assistance in facilitating the repatriation process and expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by Singapore.

Similarly, Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing the ongoing close coordination between the two countries. Pakistan has also offered to assist in the safe return of Iranian nationals through its territory, demonstrating a commitment to regional collaboration in resolving the situation.

These diplomatic engagements underscore Pakistan’s proactive approach to securing the welfare of its seafarers and maintaining strong ties with neighboring countries and international partners involved in this matter.
