Pakistan has initiated diplomatic measures to ensure the welfare and repatriation of Pakistani and Iranian seafarers detained aboard vessels seized by US authorities in waters near Singapore. This move underscores Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its nationals abroad.

In a significant development, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar engaged in talks with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, seeking Singapore’s assistance in facilitating the return of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian crew members affected by the incident. These discussions highlight Pakistan’s proactive approach in addressing the situation through regional cooperation.

Meanwhile, Dar also held consultations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing the close coordination between Pakistan and Iran on this matter. He further stated that Pakistan stands ready to provide safe transit for Iranian nationals through its territory if necessary, reflecting the collaborative spirit between the two countries.

Dar expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by Singapore and noted that Pakistan’s Foreign Office, along with other relevant agencies, is actively liaising with US officials and international partners. The goal remains to ensure the safety, well-being, and prompt repatriation of the detained seafarers, demonstrating Pakistan’s dedication to protecting its citizens and maintaining diplomatic engagement.
