Suicide Attack on South Waziristan Army Post Thwarted, Seven Injured

Security forces successfully intercepted a suicide attack targeting a military post in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday. The assailant was neutralized before reaching the post, preventing a potentially devastating explosion.

The attacker, affiliated with the Fitna al-Khawarij terrorist group, attempted to detonate an explosives-laden vehicle near the military installation. However, security personnel detected and destroyed the vehicle at a distance from the post, averting the attack.

At least seven individuals sustained injuries during the incident and were promptly transported to Wana District Headquarters Hospital, where Medical Superintendent Dr. Jan Mohammad confirmed their admission.

In response to the attack, security forces sealed off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to secure the vicinity and prevent further threats.

Since the Afghan Taliban assumed control of Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a significant rise in cross-border terrorist activities, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to stop militant groups from using Afghan territory as a base for attacks against Pakistani targets.

Despite these appeals, the Afghan Taliban regime has declined to take action against terrorist organizations responsible for numerous assaults on Pakistani security forces and civilians. In February this year, Pakistan initiated Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, following an October 2025 ceasefire agreement that ended clashes sparked by unprovoked gunfire from the Afghan Taliban at various border points.

Numerous diplomatic discussions have taken place, yet both nations remain at an impasse due to the Afghan Taliban’s unwillingness to curb terrorist activities originating from their territory.
