Mojtaba Khamenei Announces New Strait of Hormuz Management to Ensure Stability

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has announced that a new approach to managing the Strait of Hormuz will foster stability and economic advantages for the Gulf region. This statement was made in a written message released on Thursday, as tensions persist in the Gulf following the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Khamenei emphasized that a new era has begun for the Gulf and this vital maritime passage since the outbreak of hostilities on February 28. He assured that Iran would take responsibility for securing the area and put an end to what he described as “enemy abuses” of the shipping lane.

He stated, “The new management of the Strait of Hormuz will bring calm, progress, and economic benefits to all Gulf nations.”

These comments come amid growing international concern over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial chokepoint for global oil shipments. A significant portion of the world’s crude oil exports passes through this narrow waterway, making its stability vital for energy markets.

Recent tensions in the region have disrupted shipping routes and contributed to increased volatility in global energy prices, with oil costs surging sharply in recent weeks.

In response to rising geopolitical pressures, Iran has indicated intentions to exert greater control over maritime traffic in the Gulf. Meanwhile, Western countries have issued warnings against any attempts to restrict navigation through the strait, underscoring its importance for international trade and energy security.
