FIA Seizes Stolen Electricity Meters in Haripur Crackdown on Corruption

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a significant raid in Haripur, resulting in the recovery of numerous stolen electricity meters. This operation marks a decisive move against corruption within public utility services, highlighting ongoing efforts to protect national resources from illicit activities.

The raid took place in the Naseem Town area of Haripur, executed by the FIA’s Abbottabad zone following a credible tip-off. Investigators discovered that the recovered meters belonged to major power distribution companies, including the Peshawar Electric Supply Company and the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company. These meters were found in the possession of a former employee named Fareed, who is now the primary suspect in the case.

Authorities revealed that the stolen meters were reportedly sold to private individuals, indicating a broader network of illegal dealings. The main suspect has been detained, and the FIA is expanding its investigation to determine if other employees are involved in this illicit scheme. This development underscores the agency’s commitment to rooting out corruption at all levels within public institutions.

In a significant development, the FIA emphasized that this operation is part of a wider crackdown aimed at curbing corruption and preventing financial losses to the national exchequer. Officials assured that stringent action will be taken against all those found responsible, reinforcing the government’s stance on safeguarding public assets and ensuring accountability in utility services.
