The first teaser for the fourth season of Ted Lasso has been released, signaling significant changes for AFC Richmond. The Apple TV+ series, starring Jason Sudeikis, confirms that Ted Lasso’s journey with Richmond is far from over.
After departing England at the end of season three to return to the United States and focus on his son, Ted Lasso is now back at the club that made him beloved by fans. However, his comeback is not in the role viewers might have expected.
Instead of resuming his position as head coach of the men’s team, Lasso takes on a new challenge by leading Richmond’s newly established women’s team. This development, initially hinted at in the previous season’s finale, was proposed by club owner Rebecca Welton, played by Hannah Waddingham, alongside Keeley Jones, portrayed by Juno Temple. This storyline is set to become a central focus in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Richmond’s men’s team moves forward without Lasso. Season three concluded with Richmond defeating West Ham United but narrowly missing out on the Premier League title. With Lasso’s departure, Roy Kent, played by Brett Goldstein, stepped up as the men’s team manager, ushering in a new chapter for the club. This transition is expected to continue in season four, with Roy leading the men’s squad as Lasso develops the women’s side.
In a significant development, the future of the show, which was uncertain after season three, is now confirmed with this teaser. The narrative is set to explore fresh dynamics and new challenges, expanding Ted Lasso’s world in unexpected ways.
Ted Lasso season four is scheduled to premiere on August 5 on Apple TV+.
