Heliot Ramos Leads Giants’ Offensive Surge in 10-5 Win Over Nationals

In a commanding display, Heliot Ramos spearheaded the San Francisco Giants’ offense as they ended a scoring drought with a 10-5 victory over the Washington Nationals in the first game of their three-match series on Friday night in Washington.

Ramos was the standout performer, launching a three-run home run and driving in four runs, helping the Giants reach double-digit runs for the first time this season. Prior to this game, San Francisco had struggled to score more than three runs in each of their last five outings, but they erupted for a total of 15 hits in a comprehensive batting effort.

The left fielder’s homer marked his first of the season and came after he was left out of the starting lineup in the previous two games, a move that seemed to fuel his determination. Entering the game, Ramos held a .231 batting average with seven RBIs, but he approached the plate with renewed focus and aggression.

Reflecting on his recent absence from the lineup, Ramos stated, “I took it personally and wanted to improve. It helped me reset and be more aggressive and intentional.” Giants’ starter Logan Webb also commended Ramos’ performance, emphasizing that he is an “All-Star for a reason” following his explosive contribution.

Additional power from Drew Gilbert and Casey Schmitt, who both hit home runs, bolstered the Giants’ offense. Matt Chapman also played a key role, tallying three hits and three RBIs, showcasing a well-rounded team effort.

Looking ahead, the Giants aim to maintain their momentum as they prepare for Saturday’s game, where Adrian Houser will pitch against Washington’s Cade Cavalli.

Despite the loss, the Nationals had some positive moments. James Wood and Daylen Lile each hit home runs, with Lile’s two-run shot marking his first of the season. Jose Tena contributed three hits, providing some bright spots in an otherwise challenging night for Washington.
