RCB Posts 158-6 in 17 Overs Against DC with Three Overs Left

In a high-octane Indian Premier League encounter at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted a competitive total of 158 runs for the loss of six wickets in 17 overs against Delhi Capitals (DC), with three overs still remaining in the 26th match of the tournament on Saturday.

After being sent in to bat, RCB began steadily, anchored by an aggressive innings from Phil Salt. Salt scored a brisk 63 runs off just 38 deliveries, striking four boundaries and three sixes, setting a strong platform for his team. However, Delhi Capitals fought back during the middle overs, tightening their bowling to slow the scoring momentum.

Virat Kohli contributed a valuable 19 runs, while Devdutt Padikkal added 18, though both batsmen were dismissed at pivotal moments, allowing DC bowlers to maintain pressure by taking timely wickets. RCB captain Rajat Patidar chipped in with a quickfire 8 runs, and Tim David played a crucial cameo, scoring 26 runs to stabilize the innings and keep the run rate healthy.

Despite the solid foundation, late wickets disrupted RCB’s rhythm, with Romario Shepherd and other lower-order batsmen unable to accelerate the scoring as hoped. Meanwhile, Jitesh Sharma and Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten, aiming to push the total beyond the 170-run mark in the remaining overs.

On the bowling front, Kuldeep Yadav was the standout performer for Delhi, claiming two wickets and applying pressure on the RCB batsmen. Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel also made important breakthroughs, contributing to DC’s efforts to contain the opposition.

With a current run rate exceeding nine runs per over, RCB looks poised for a strong finish, but Delhi Capitals will be determined to restrict the challengers in the final overs and keep the match tightly contested.
