Mumbai: Indian actor Varun Dhawan is currently under fire on social media amid allegations that he is behind fabricated reviews for his films. The controversy arose after Instagram influencer Simran Bhat accused the actor of orchestrating false praise for his latest movie, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, following the release of its first look.
Bhat shared a video in which she explained that she was approached at the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station in Delhi and asked to deliver a favorable review of Dhawan’s film. She stated that she was told exactly what to say on camera. When she refused, questioning how she could review a film she had not seen, those involved attempted to force her to watch the trailer before rudely asking her to leave. Bhat sarcastically wondered if Dhawan’s career had declined to the point where he needed to manufacture positive feedback.
In a notable response, Varun Dhawan commented on Bhat’s post, writing, “Hopefully, this video will get you the views you want.”
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Dhawan opened up about his early ambitions before entering Bollywood. On a recent episode of Be A Man, Yaar!, the Student of the Year star revealed that he initially dreamed of breaking into Hollywood and being launched by the legendary director Steven Spielberg.
He also shared insights into his journey, recalling that his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, was initially reluctant to launch his acting career. “My mother told me that your father is never going to launch you… he will only work with you when he feels you have become a star,” Varun said. This motivated him to work diligently and develop his craft independently, enrolling in acting classes to hone his skills rather than relying on his family background.
