After an extensive casting process involving multiple screen tests and a competitive shortlist, Adria Arjona has secured a significant role in DC Studios’ upcoming Superman sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow. The film is directed by James Gunn and represents one of the final casting decisions for this highly anticipated project.
The sequel will feature David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, continuing the rebooted DC universe with several returning characters confirmed. Although the studio has not officially announced Arjona’s character, industry speculation suggests she will portray Maxima, a powerful and unpredictable figure from DC Comics lore. This casting hints at a more cosmic storyline, especially with Brainiac set as the main antagonist.
Earlier this month, a group of finalists, including Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten, auditioned in Atlanta. Ultimately, Arjona was selected, indicating the studio sought a distinct screen presence rather than relying on established star power. Alongside the principal cast, the film is expected to bring back Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, among others.
There is considerable excitement about how the new cast members will integrate into the broader narrative as DC continues expanding its interconnected cinematic universe. For Arjona, this role comes during a busy period following recent appearances in notable streaming and film projects, positioning her within one of the industry’s most closely watched franchises.
With production progressing, Arjona’s casting represents one of the last major updates before the sequel advances further in development, targeting a 2027 release date.
