Kim Kardashian is broadening her career by stepping into the role of Broadway producer with the limited-run play The Fear of 13. Currently in previews at the James Earl Jones Theatre, the production features Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson and dramatizes the true story of Nick Yarris, who spent over 20 years on death row after a wrongful conviction.
In a significant development, Kardashian announced her involvement on April 13 via Instagram Stories, emphasizing her dedication to criminal justice reform. She expressed that the cause is deeply personal, having witnessed systemic failures firsthand, and stated her commitment to advocating for those whose voices have been ignored. This passion motivated her to join the producing team of The Fear of 13 on Broadway.
The play follows Yarris’ relentless battle to prove his innocence following his 1982 conviction in Pennsylvania. Despite numerous rejected appeals, his case eventually gained traction with advocates, culminating in his exoneration through DNA evidence in 2004. Yarris’ story has been widely publicized through a memoir and documentary before being adapted for the stage by playwright Lindsey Ferrentino.
Originally performed at London’s Donmar Warehouse, the production has now transferred to Broadway under the direction of Tony Award winner David Cromer. The show is slated for a 16-week engagement, bringing this powerful narrative to a wider audience.
