Thomas Partey Denies New Rape Charges in London Court Appearance

Thomas Partey, the Ghanaian professional footballer currently playing for Villarreal, appeared in a London court on Monday to face two additional rape charges. The 32-year-old midfielder firmly denied these new allegations, which add to the multiple accusations he is already contesting.

Previously, Partey had rejected five counts of rape involving two women, as well as a separate charge of sexual assault concerning a third woman. These incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022. The recent charges relate to a fourth complainant and date back to December 2020, a period when Partey was still a player for Arsenal, a Premier League club in England.

In a significant development, Partey pleaded not guilty to these additional charges at Southwark Crown Court. The midfielder was granted bail while awaiting trial, which was initially scheduled for November but may face delays. This legal process has attracted considerable attention, given Partey’s high-profile status in the football world.

Thomas Partey’s career trajectory saw him move from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal in 2020 for a transfer fee of 50 million euros, equivalent to approximately 58.49 million US dollars. He quickly established himself as a vital player for Arsenal’s first team. However, his contract with the English club expired at the end of June, after which he transferred to Villarreal in Spain. The ongoing legal proceedings continue to cast a shadow over his professional career.
