Islamabad authorities have released a detailed traffic advisory in response to increased security measures, resulting in significant road closures and diversions throughout the capital. Both the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway are subject to major rerouting, with public transport temporarily banned from entering the Expressway.
Transport operators have been instructed not to halt at bus stops or designated loops along the affected corridors, as officials strive to reduce congestion and ensure smoother traffic movement.
The Red Zone and Extended Red Zone, which house important government offices and diplomatic missions, have been completely closed to all vehicular traffic, further restricting mobility across the city.
Several key roads are fully closed to commuters, including Kashmir Chowk’s Club Road leading to Zero Point, Srinagar Highway between Zero Point and Serena Chowk, Shakar Parian Road from Seventh Avenue to Chand Tara Chowk, Jinnah Avenue stretching from Blue Area to Khayaban Chowk, and Margalla Road from Faisal Chowk to Trail 3.
Officials have appealed to residents to avoid non-essential travel and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies during this period of disruption.
Citizens are advised to stay informed by following updates on the official Islamabad Traffic Police WhatsApp channel and Islamabad Police’s social media accounts, where real-time traffic information and guidance are being provided to help navigate the closures effectively.
