NADRA Introduces Three-Stage B-Form Issuance for Children

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a revised procedure for issuing the Child Registration Certificate, commonly known as the B-Form. Under this new system, each child will receive the B-Form in three distinct stages, each tailored to specific age groups and incorporating enhanced identification features.

In the initial stage, the B-Form will be issued at birth without a photograph and will remain valid until the child reaches three years of age. Following this, the second B-Form will be provided once the child turns three, this time including a photograph, and will be valid until the child turns ten.

The final stage involves issuing a third B-Form after the child surpasses ten years old. This version will feature a photograph, iris scan, and fingerprints, and will remain valid until the child reaches eighteen years. This phased approach aims to strengthen identity verification and ensure updated records throughout childhood.

Parents are encouraged to register their child’s birth with the Union Council within one month to obtain the initial B-Form promptly. They must also renew the B-Form at the end of each validity period. Renewal can be done by visiting the nearest NADRA office with the child or through the Pak-ID mobile application.

NADRA has emphasized the importance of acquiring the updated B-Form early to prevent difficulties, especially during school admissions. In a related development, NADRA has recently launched the Iris Recognition System to enhance identity verification and reduce duplicate records. This technology complements existing biometric methods such as fingerprint and facial recognition.

The Iris Recognition System is currently operational at selected centers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, with plans to expand its deployment across all 700 NADRA registration centers nationwide in phases.
