Israel Urges Iranians to Avoid Train Travel Amid Rising Tensions

The Israeli military issued an unusual and urgent warning on Tuesday, advising Iranian citizens to avoid trains and railway lines due to significant safety risks. This alert was disseminated through Israel’s Persian-language social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter, during a period of heightened military tensions in the Middle East.

The advisory stated, “For your safety, we kindly ask that from now until 21:00 Iran time, you refrain from using and traveling by train anywhere in Iran.” It emphasized that being on trains or near railway tracks could endanger lives. The message was also provided in English alongside the original Persian text, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

This warning emerges amid ongoing hostilities involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, which escalated following attacks on Iran starting February 28. The timing coincides with a U.S. deadline demanding Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial international shipping corridor. President Donald Trump has threatened to target Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, if Iran fails to comply.

Experts interpret the advisory as either a sign of possible military actions near transportation networks or a precaution to reduce civilian casualties should strikes occur. However, the Israeli military has not disclosed further details about the specific threats or intelligence that prompted this announcement.

Rail transport plays a critical role in Iran, linking major urban centers and supporting commerce. Tehran officials have yet to respond publicly to Israel’s warning. Meanwhile, social media platforms reveal widespread public anxiety, with many Iranians uncertain about commuting or traveling for work and essential activities.

This unprecedented alert underscores the escalating risks in the conflict involving Israel, the U.S., and Iran, raising serious concerns about civilian safety and the humanitarian consequences of ongoing military operations. International observers remain vigilant, as potential strikes on Iranian infrastructure could significantly impact regional stability and global energy supplies.

The Israeli military concluded its message with a stark caution: “Your presence on trains and near railway lines endangers your life,” urging immediate compliance with the advisory.
