Kuwait Issues Warning on Sharing War and Sectarian Content Online

Authorities in Kuwait have issued a stern warning regarding the dissemination of sensitive content on digital platforms. The Cybercrime Department has explicitly advised both citizens and expatriates to avoid sharing or publishing any material connected to ongoing conflicts, military operations, or missile activities. This move aims to curb the spread of information that could potentially destabilize the social fabric of the country.

In a significant development, officials also cautioned against the circulation of videos or images that might incite sectarian tensions or provoke social unrest. Such content is viewed as a serious threat to national unity and social cohesion, prompting the government to take a firm stance against its distribution. The authorities underscored that engaging in these activities constitutes a direct breach of Kuwaiti law, which could lead to legal consequences for those responsible.

Meanwhile, residents of Kuwait have been urged to maintain neutrality in their online interactions and refrain from engaging with provocative or inflammatory material. The government emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding national security and ensuring social stability in a region often marked by geopolitical sensitivities. To support this effort, the Ministry of Interior has provided official communication channels for reporting violations or seeking further guidance.

This advisory comes amid broader efforts by Kuwaiti authorities to regulate online content and prevent the escalation of conflicts through digital means. By encouraging responsible online behavior and vigilance among the public, Kuwait aims to foster a peaceful and secure environment for all its residents.
