Punjab Police has been placed on heightened alert to guarantee comprehensive security for the Christian community during the Easter celebrations, with extensive preparations completed throughout the province.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Rao Abdul Kareem, extended warm Easter greetings to the Christian community as well as to Christian officers and staff within the police force. He emphasized that the Punjab Police shares in the joy and festivities of the Christian population as equal partners.

Security arrangements have been fully activated, involving the deployment of more than 17,000 police personnel tasked with protecting 3,153 Easter-related events across Punjab. Authorities have described these measures as meticulous and proactive, aimed at facilitating peaceful and secure celebrations.

In Lahore, the provincial capital, over 3,000 officers have been assigned to safeguard 647 Easter programs, reflecting the city’s status as a primary focus due to the large number of gatherings and congregations.

In a significant development, the IGP noted that additional forces, including snipers and specially trained commandos, have been stationed at sensitive church locations to counter any potential threats. Strict entry procedures have been implemented, requiring thorough screening and proper identification of all attendees before allowing access to church premises.

Reaffirming the department’s dedication, Abdul Kareem assured that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure the Christian community can celebrate Easter safely. He reiterated his Easter wishes, underscoring the spirit of unity and shared celebration among diverse communities.

Punjab Police officials highlighted that these security measures demonstrate their commitment to maintaining law and order while enabling religious minorities to observe their festivals without fear or disruption.
