Toaster Trailer Released: Rajkummar Rao’s Miserly Role Divides Audiences

The trailer for the upcoming film Toaster, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, has been released, providing a preview of a unique comedy that intertwines everyday life with unexpected chaos. The movie is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on April 15.

Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and produced by Patralekhaa under the banner of Kampa Film, Toaster centers on a frugal man whose extreme penny-pinching begins to strain his marriage. Rajkummar Rao portrays Ramakant, a husband who obsessively monitors every expenditure, much to the annoyance of his wife, played by Sanya Malhotra.

In a surprising twist, the couple purchases a toaster as a wedding gift, which unexpectedly sparks a citywide chase involving multiple characters vying for the seemingly ordinary appliance. The film also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa.

Despite its offbeat storyline, the trailer has elicited mixed reactions from viewers online. While some found the concept captivating, others expressed disappointment, criticizing the humor and labeling the plot as repetitive.

Rajkummar Rao shared his enthusiasm about the project, highlighting its significance as the first film produced under their own production company, Kampa Film, with Patralekhaa as producer. He remarked, “This film is special to me because it marks our debut production. What attracted me to Toaster was how something seemingly trivial can dominate a person’s thoughts entirely.”
