Russia Sends Second Oil Shipment to Cuba Amid US Blockade

In a significant development, Russia has dispatched a second oil tanker to Cuba, continuing its efforts to supply the Caribbean nation amid a US-imposed blockade. This move follows the recent arrival of a Russian tanker that delivered approximately 700,000 barrels of crude oil to Cuba, addressing the island’s escalating energy crisis. The shipment underscores Moscow’s commitment to supporting Havana despite increasing geopolitical tensions with Washington.

The initial delivery marked a rare instance of direct Russian aid to Cuba’s energy sector, which has been severely strained due to US sanctions restricting fuel imports. Cuba’s energy shortages have led to widespread power outages and economic difficulties, making these shipments critical for the country’s stability. Russia’s involvement signals a strategic partnership aimed at countering US influence in the region.

Meanwhile, the US continues to enforce its blockade, aiming to pressure the Cuban government economically and politically. Russia’s continued oil shipments not only challenge this blockade but also highlight the broader geopolitical contest between Moscow and Washington in Latin America. The unfolding situation may have significant implications for regional energy security and international diplomatic relations.
