A westerly weather system has brought light to moderate rainfall to Karachi, with the Meteorological Department predicting additional showers in the coming hours. Since last night, light rain and drizzle have been reported in multiple areas including Quaidabad, Malir, Safoora Chowrangi, Scheme 33, Nazimabad, Saddar, Metroville, SITE, and Habib Bank Chowrangi.
The Meteorological Department expects rain to continue across various parts of the city, with light to moderate intensity likely in most locations. Notably, isolated hailstorms may also occur in some areas.
In a significant development, Deputy Mayor Salman Murad announced that, in preparation for the ongoing weather conditions expected to persist through April 4, all local government staff holidays have been canceled. Additionally, all municipal departments have been placed on high alert to manage any emergencies effectively.
Dewatering pumps have been strategically deployed in vulnerable zones, while municipal teams are stationed along major highways and critical intersections to ensure prompt response to any incidents.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide weather alert, cautioning about strong winds, heavy rain, and potential hail across most parts of the province until April 4. Citizens are advised to remain cautious, limit unnecessary travel, and contact emergency services immediately if assistance is required.
