Trump to Deliver Prime-Time Address on Iran Conflict Tonight

US President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a prime-time address on Wednesday evening, promising a significant update regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran. The White House announced the speech will air at 9pm ET, though details about its content remain undisclosed.

This address arrives as the conflict enters its fifth week and appears to be nearing a pivotal moment. Trump has recently suggested that Washington aims to conclude the war within weeks, indicating that major military goals, particularly the degradation of Iran’s capabilities, have largely been met.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth underscored the urgency of the situation, stating that the coming days will be crucial in determining the conflict’s outcome.

Meanwhile, diplomatic and military avenues remain active. Trump has signaled a willingness to negotiate an end to hostilities but continues to keep military options open. Hundreds of US special operations forces, including elite units, have been deployed throughout the Middle East alongside Marines and paratroopers, enhancing the US’s ability to escalate if necessary.

Contingency plans reportedly include potential ground operations targeting Iran’s sensitive nuclear facilities. These high-risk missions could involve seizing stockpiles of highly enriched uranium or striking strategic energy sites such as Kharg Island, a critical center for Iran’s oil exports.

Indirect communications between Washington and Tehran persist through intermediaries, although Iranian officials publicly deny formal negotiations. Trump has expressed cautious optimism about the possibility of reaching a deal despite ongoing tensions.

The situation is further complicated by disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil shipping route that Iran has effectively restricted. Trump has suggested that other nations reliant on Middle Eastern oil should take a more active role in securing this passage.

In recent remarks, he warned that failure to reopen the waterway or reach an agreement could lead to further consequences, underscoring the high stakes involved.
