Major Traffic Diversions Implemented on Islamabad’s Ataturk Avenue Construction

Motorists in Islamabad should prepare for extensive traffic diversions as construction work commences on Ataturk Avenue, covering the stretch between Express Chowk and Ayub Chowk. The Islamabad Police have confirmed that these diversions will be in place starting today and will continue until the project is completed.

Ataturk Avenue will be fully closed between Express Chowk and Ayub Chowk. Commuters traveling to or from the Marriott Hotel are advised to use alternative routes via China Chowk and Press Club Road from Jinnah Avenue.

Meanwhile, traffic approaching the Marriott Hotel from Khayaban-e-Seharwardi and Embassy Road should take a detour through Shaheed-e-Millat Road and Aga Khan Road. For those coming from Srinagar Highway aiming to reach the Secretariat, the recommended diversion passes through Serena Chowk, G-8 Chowk, and Secretariat Chowk.

Notably, residents of Seventh Avenue can access the Secretariat by using Margalla Road and continuing along Shahrah-e-Dastoor.

The Islamabad Police have urged commuters to plan their journeys carefully, allow additional travel time, and follow all diversion signs to minimize delays. Officials also emphasized the importance of obeying traffic regulations within construction zones to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers.

In a significant development, authorities have assured the public that effective traffic management measures will be implemented throughout the construction period to maintain smooth traffic flow.
