Charlotte Jørgensen Shares Harrowing Account of LaGuardia Plane Crash

Charlotte Jørgensen has shared a vivid account of her terrifying experience during the Air Canada Flight 8646 accident. Posting on Instagram, she revealed that she boarded the flight anticipating a wonderful weekend in Montreal. She confirmed that she is one of the survivors of the crash, which occurred at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on March 22.

Jørgensen expressed profound gratitude to the two pilots, Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther, who lost their lives in the incident. She described them as heroic figures who made the ultimate sacrifice to save the passengers, stating, “I am indebted to them and my thoughts are with their families.” Initially, she felt numb during the crash due to an adrenaline rush, but she admitted that the days following the accident have been extremely challenging on physical, mental, and emotional levels. She emphasized the need to take time for healing.

In her message, Jørgensen also thanked her “Dancing with the Stars” family for their support and concern during this difficult time. The CRJ-900 aircraft was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members when it collided with a firetruck responding to reports of an unknown odor in another plane’s cockpit. As a result, 39 passengers and two firefighters were hospitalized, though most have since been discharged.

In a significant development, aviation safety expert Anthony Brickhouse praised the pilots for their skill, noting that despite the tragic loss of Captain Forest and First Officer Gunther, the crash could have resulted in far greater casualties. He remarked on the dramatic damage to the aircraft, highlighting the high speed and energy involved in the collision with the firetruck. Brickhouse called it miraculous that more lives were not lost given the severity of the impact.

One week after the crash, Jørgensen’s candid reflections provide a poignant reminder of the human stories behind the headlines and the bravery of those who risk their lives in aviation emergencies.
