Kuwait Assures No Food Shortage Amid Global Supply Concerns

Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has assured the public that there is no shortage of food in the country, emphasizing that essential commodities are sufficiently stocked in markets nationwide. The ministry highlighted its ongoing 24/7 surveillance of markets and supply chains to maintain stability and deter any artificial scarcity or price gouging.

Citizens and residents have been urged to avoid hoarding food items, as the ministry confirmed that stocks are plentiful and regularly replenished. Traders and supermarket owners were also called upon to uphold transparency in pricing and refrain from unjustified increases, with warnings that legal measures will be taken against offenders.

This announcement comes in the context of global concerns over supply chain disruptions and rising food costs in various regions, driven by economic and geopolitical challenges. Kuwaiti authorities stressed that the country holds strategic food reserves and has diversified its import sources to guarantee a steady supply of staples such as rice, sugar, oil, flour, dairy products, and meat.

Furthermore, the ministry is collaborating with other government entities, including the Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, to strengthen oversight and promote local production where feasible. Consumers are encouraged to report any shortages or unusual price hikes through official channels to ensure swift investigation and response.
