IRGC Navy Commander Tangsiri Dies from Injuries in US-Israeli Strikes

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death of Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who passed away due to injuries sustained during recent US-Israeli airstrikes. The announcement came on Monday, detailing that Tangsiri was wounded while overseeing and strengthening defensive positions on strategic islands and coastal areas.

The IRGC statement noted that these operations inflicted considerable damage on enemy installations and infrastructure, including the downing of an American fighter jet. It described Tangsiri as a prominent figure in Iran’s military history, emphasizing that his martyrdom would not hinder ongoing military efforts.

Meanwhile, the IRGC praised its naval forces for demonstrating strong leadership and effective command in recent confrontations. The statement recalled previous clashes with foreign forces, referencing battles during the Iran-Iraq War, the capture of foreign naval personnel, and engagements in the Strait of Hormuz. It asserted that every IRGC fighter carries the spirit and determination exemplified by Tangsiri.

In a significant development, the IRGC extended condolences to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hussein Khamenei, the Iranian nation, and the naval forces. It reaffirmed its commitment to persist in military operations until the enemy is fully defeated and the liberation of al-Quds is achieved.

Notably, the US-Israeli campaign against Iran began on February 28 with airstrikes that killed the former Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with other senior Iranian officials and commanders. Since then, Iranian armed forces have launched near-daily missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli-occupied territories as well as US military bases and assets throughout the region.
