Karachi Police Extend Deadline for Govt-Approved Vehicle Number Plates to April 1

Karachi police have announced an extension to the deadline for motorists to install government-approved vehicle number plates, now set for April 1. This extension grants vehicle owners additional time to comply with regulations aimed at standardizing vehicle identification across the city.

In a significant development, Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) Azad Khan declared the two-day extension to facilitate vehicle owners in acquiring and affixing official number plates. The original deadline was March 30, but authorities have shifted the enforcement date to April 1 to ensure smoother compliance.

Following the new deadline, a comprehensive crackdown will commence citywide targeting vehicles displaying private, decorative, or non-approved number plates. Officials have warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators to uphold traffic laws and enhance security measures.

Moreover, the police have reiterated that drivers operating vehicles without a valid driving licence will also face penalties as part of this enforcement campaign. Authorities emphasized that the use of unapproved or fancy number plates is illegal, as it complicates vehicle identification and poses security risks. Citizens are urged to adhere to the regulations and ensure their vehicles bear only official number plates within the stipulated timeframe to avoid fines and other consequences.
