Lamar Odom Suggests 2015 Overdose Was Attempt on His Life

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom has made a startling assertion regarding his 2015 overdose, implying that the event which nearly cost him his life might not have been accidental. Ahead of the release of his upcoming Netflix documentary, Untold: The Life and Death of Lamar Odom, scheduled for March 31, the two-time NBA champion expressed suspicions of foul play surrounding the incident.

Odom stated that he did not intentionally consume cocaine on the day of the overdose, despite later tests indicating its presence in his system. This discrepancy has led him to question the true circumstances of that night. “I didn’t take cocaine that night… and you tested for it,” he remarked, adding, “I considered it as a hit.” He further suggested that someone may have exploited his vulnerabilities during that period, saying, “I think someone knew I had a weakness when it came to drugs and women, and thought that’d probably be the best time to take me out.”

In a significant development, Odom recounted the severity of his medical crisis, revealing that he endured 12 strokes and six heart attacks during the ordeal. “All my doctors say I’m a walking miracle,” he said, attributing his survival to faith and a renewed sense of purpose. This life-threatening experience continues to influence his perspective on life and his role in the public eye.

Meanwhile, Odom reflected on the profound impact of his late Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant, who passed away in 2020. “When he passed away, it felt like the world started spinning the opposite way,” Odom said, describing the loss as deeply personal and widely felt. He noted that Bryant’s mindset and discipline remain a source of inspiration beyond the basketball court.

Now committed to recovery, Odom is using his platform to raise awareness about addiction, which he describes as a “brain disease” affecting not only individuals but entire families. He emphasized the importance of living intentionally and being present, stating that surviving his ordeal has given him a renewed sense of responsibility. The forthcoming documentary is expected to delve into Odom’s NBA career, personal struggles, and journey toward recovery.
