In a significant development amid regional challenges, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting to discuss fuel conservation, economic stability, and public relief initiatives. The session brought together senior government officials and private sector representatives to ensure the uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across the country.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that there are ample petroleum supplies to meet national demand. He reassured citizens that the government has taken substantial steps to stabilize fuel prices, allocating Rs 125 billion from the development budget over the past three weeks to keep fuel affordable.

Highlighting the administration’s focus on easing the financial strain on the public, the Prime Minister stated that providing relief remains a top priority. He urged provincial authorities to expedite the registration of motorcycle and rickshaw owners, with the aim of digitizing this data to enhance the effectiveness of future relief programs.

Meanwhile, the meeting introduced a new digital dashboard designed to track the supply and demand of petroleum products in real time, ensuring smooth distribution and minimizing administrative delays such as long queues at fuel stations. Officials also outlined plans for a fuel support program app, which will offer direct assistance to motorcycle and rickshaw drivers.

In addition, the Prime Minister instructed all relevant departments to strengthen coordination with provincial governments, as well as with Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, to optimize fuel distribution and prepare for the upcoming petrol import arrangements scheduled for April.

The meeting included the Deputy Prime Minister, federal ministers, and the Governor of the State Bank, with several senior officials participating via video link. These collective efforts underscore the government’s commitment to maintaining fuel availability and supporting citizens during challenging economic conditions.
