PTI’s Aliya Hamza Detained in Lahore Amid Multiple Legal Cases

Aliya Hamza, the Punjab Chief Organiser of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was taken into custody in Lahore on Thursday in connection with several legal cases. The party confirmed her detention and stated she was transferred to an undisclosed location.

PTI Punjab issued a statement on social media condemning the arrest, claiming it was part of a political vendetta. The statement emphasized that false charges have been filed against Hamza, and she is once again being unfairly targeted.

Reports indicate that Hamza had traveled to Lahore to celebrate Eid with her family and children when authorities detained her. Official confirmation from law enforcement regarding the arrest has not yet been provided. Previously, Hamza received a 10-year prison sentence related to the May 9 riot case, along with an additional five-year sentence for other offenses.

In a significant development, senior PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser publicly criticized the arrest on social media. He described the action as unjust and politically motivated, calling the situation “condemnable and deeply regrettable.” Qaiser urged the authorities to reconsider the matter promptly.
