Google has announced the global expansion of its AI-driven conversational search tool, Search Live, now available in all languages and regions where AI Mode is supported. This rollout extends access to users in more than 200 countries and territories, significantly broadening the feature’s reach.
Initially launched in July 2025, Search Live enables users to point their phone cameras at objects and receive immediate assistance through interactive conversations that incorporate visual data from the camera feed. Prior to this global release, the feature was limited to users in the United States and India.
The worldwide availability of Search Live is powered by Google’s latest audio and voice technology, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which enhances the natural flow and responsiveness of conversations. To activate the feature, users simply open the Google app on Android or iOS devices and tap the Live icon beneath the Search bar. They can then speak their queries aloud, receive spoken answers, and engage in follow-up questions. Additionally, users can access related web links for more detailed information.
Google highlighted that Search Live is particularly useful in situations where typing a query is inconvenient. For example, when needing guidance on tasks like installing a shelving unit, users can enable their camera to provide visual context. This allows the search tool to analyze the scene and offer tailored suggestions along with links to further resources online.
Moreover, Search Live is integrated with Google Lens, allowing users to switch to the Live mode by tapping the corresponding option at the bottom of the screen while using the camera.
In a related update, Google also announced the expansion of its Google Translate “Live Translate” feature to iOS devices. This functionality delivers real-time spoken translations through headphones and is now accessible in additional countries including Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand. The update enables both Android and iOS users to experience real-time translation on any headphones in over 70 languages.
