Fox McCloud is set to make his cinematic debut in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, marking a significant expansion of Nintendo’s film universe. The legendary space pilot from the Star Fox series and Super Smash Bros. was confirmed Thursday, generating excitement among fans eager to see Nintendo’s iconic characters on the big screen.
Previously, Fox McCloud made a brief, almost unnoticed cameo in an earlier trailer, but his role is now officially confirmed. However, the voice actor for this character has not yet been announced, leaving audiences curious about who will portray the famed pilot.
Fox McCloud first appeared in 1993 on the Super Nintendo with the original Star Fox game. Since then, he has starred in several titles including Star Fox 64, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox: Assault, Star Fox: Command, and even the unreleased Star Fox 2 from 2017. Beyond his own series, Fox is widely recognized as a staple fighter in the Super Smash Bros. franchise, appearing since the 1999 Nintendo 64 original alongside other Nintendo legends like Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi.
His inclusion in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie suggests a larger crossover event inspired by Super Smash Bros. The film has already hinted at this with the presence of a Pikmin connected to Captain Olimar, another popular character from the Smash series. This raises the possibility that other fan favorites such as Samus or Captain Falcon might also join the adventure.
Fans will have to wait until the movie’s release on April 1 to see how these characters come together. With Fox McCloud now officially part of the cast, the film promises to be a galaxy-wide celebration of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises, combining classic video game heroes with a fresh cinematic experience.
