Pascal Duvier, the security guard at the center of the recent dispute involving singer Chappell Roan and the daughter of footballer Jorginho, has publicly addressed the incident. He accepted full responsibility for his actions but emphasized that Roan and her team were not involved in the situation.
The controversy arose after an 11-year-old girl was reportedly confronted at a hotel in São Paulo. Jorginho claimed his daughter had been accused of harassing the singer, prompting widespread attention. Duvier clarified that he was working for another client at the venue and made a judgment call based on information from hotel staff, his prior observations, and heightened security concerns.
He stressed that his conduct was independent of Roan or her management, explaining that his interaction with the child’s mother was calm and intended to be protective, though he regretted the incident’s outcome. This statement follows Jorginho’s public criticism, where he said his daughter was left distressed by the encounter.
Meanwhile, Chappell Roan’s representatives have distanced the singer from the episode. A spokesperson highlighted Roan’s zero tolerance for aggressive behavior and stated she was unaware of any interaction between the family and the security guard. Roan herself addressed the matter in a video, denying any involvement and saying she neither saw the woman and child nor was approached during her hotel breakfast.
Contrastingly, the girl’s mother disputed parts of Roan’s account, asserting that her daughter did not attempt to approach or photograph the singer before being confronted by the guard, whom she described as intimidating.
The incident has sparked broader discussions about the boundaries between celebrities and fans, the role of private security in public settings, and the protection of children in such encounters.
