The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states have formally condemned recent attacks attributed to Iran, describing them as clear violations of national sovereignty. These attacks have escalated tensions in an already volatile region, prompting the GCC to call for urgent international attention and action at the United Nations. The statement underscores the threat such aggression poses to regional stability and security.

Meanwhile, Volker Turk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, has also expressed deep concern over the situation. He warned that continued hostilities could lead to severe repercussions, not only for the Gulf states but for the broader international community. His remarks highlight the potential human rights and humanitarian impacts arising from the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

In a significant development, the combined voices of the GCC and the UN rights chief emphasize the need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent further violations. The situation remains critical as the Gulf region navigates the complexities of security challenges posed by Iran’s actions. The international community is urged to support measures that uphold sovereignty and promote peace in the area.
