Leading religious scholars and spiritual leaders convened in Lahore on Wednesday for the National Ulema-o-Mashaikh Convention, where they collectively expressed strong confidence in the current government policies and national leadership. The gathering concluded with a unanimous resolution commending the cooperative efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in navigating the country through complex regional dynamics.
Representatives from diverse Islamic schools of thought attended the convention, which served as a platform to strengthen national unity. Speakers underscored the significance of the “Paigham-e-Pakistan” initiative, a comprehensive national framework aimed at combating extremism and preserving internal peace.
In light of escalating geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, the scholars highlighted that the solidarity among the public, religious leaders, and state institutions forms the foundation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. This unity is crucial for maintaining stability amid external pressures.
A major focus of the session was the rising threat posed by digital misinformation. The scholars strongly condemned the spread of false information and the exploitation of social media to provoke civil unrest or undermine state institutions. They warned that such campaigns are intended to erode social cohesion and divert attention from the country’s economic and security achievements.
In their concluding statements, the Mashaikh called on the youth to remain alert against divisive rhetoric and to uphold principles of tolerance and stability. By reaffirming their support for the state’s strategic direction, the religious leadership demonstrated a united stance aimed at securing long-term internal security and fostering regional peace.
