Karachi Weather Update: No Rain Today, Showers Expected from Tomorrow

Karachi is set to experience dry weather throughout the day, overturning earlier predictions of drizzle and light rain, as per the latest update from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The skies over the city are currently clear and mostly sunny, PMD Deputy Director Anjum Nazeer, who noted that conditions are expected to improve further with several hours of sunshine.

Although partly cloudy to cloudy skies may develop later in the day, the chances of rain or drizzle in the port city remain negligible today. This contrasts with the Met Office’s earlier forecast, which had anticipated partly cloudy weather with possible rain and drizzle in some areas of Karachi due to the influence of a western weather system.

The department had predicted a maximum temperature near 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.5 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels around 84%. However, weather patterns are expected to shift starting tomorrow (Thursday), when the outskirts of Karachi may experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds as the current rain-producing system affects the region.

In a significant development, a more intense spell of rain, including heavy showers and thunderstorms with the possibility of hailstorms, is forecast for March 28 and 29. Deputy Director Nazeer indicated that this system has the potential to strengthen over the coming days.

Earlier forecasts also suggested that northern and eastern parts of Karachi could receive rain on Thursday, indicating that while the city remains dry today, unsettled weather conditions will impact surrounding areas and escalate later this week.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert on Tuesday regarding the anticipated rainfall in Karachi and other parts of the province. In response, PDMA instructed its personnel to stay on high alert and keep all necessary equipment ready to handle any emergencies arising from the forecasted weather changes.
