In a tragic incident on Wednesday, a vehicle belonging to the convoy of Maulana Asjad Mahmood, son of prominent political leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, was involved in a serious accident near Wanda Yarik in Dera Ismail Khan. The crash resulted in the immediate death of two volunteers associated with the Ansar-ul-Islam group, while a third volunteer sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

The two volunteers who lost their lives hailed from the Lakki Marwat district, a region known for its active participation in various local groups. The accident occurred under circumstances that remain unclear, prompting local police to launch a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact cause. Authorities have begun collecting evidence from the scene as part of their ongoing efforts to piece together the events leading up to the collision.

Emergency response teams acted swiftly after being alerted to the accident, transporting the injured volunteer to the hospital and recovering the bodies of the deceased from the site. Medical staff at the hospital confirmed that the injured individual is receiving necessary care, though details about their current condition have not been disclosed.

This unfortunate event has raised concerns about the safety protocols followed during political convoys, especially those involving high-profile figures. Convoys often travel through busy or challenging routes, and incidents like these highlight the risks faced by accompanying personnel and volunteers. The involvement of Maulana Asjad Mahmood’s convoy adds a layer of political sensitivity to the investigation, as the family holds significant influence in the region.

Authorities have assured that the investigation will be conducted transparently, with findings to be shared once the inquiry is complete. Meanwhile, local communities in Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan have expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased volunteers, acknowledging their service and dedication. The incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers faced by those supporting political activities on the ground.
