An injured individual accused in a serious murder and attempted murder case managed to escape from Mardan Medical Complex, sparking widespread concern over apparent negligence by the police force assigned to guard him. The incident unfolded while the suspect was undergoing medical treatment, highlighting significant security lapses within the hospital premises.
The suspect had been transferred to Mardan Medical Complex under police custody to receive necessary medical care following injuries sustained during the course of the investigation. However, during his stay, he took advantage of the situation and fled from the hospital, evading the officers responsible for his supervision. This escape has raised critical questions about the protocols followed by law enforcement during such high-risk detainee transfers.
In response to the escape, authorities promptly registered a First Information Report (FIR) targeting the Station House Officer (SHO) of Saro Shah Police Station, Tajbar Shah, along with the police personnel assigned to the suspect’s security detail. The FIR was filed following a complaint lodged by SHO Shafiq Ahmed of Sheikh Maltoon Police Station, who pointed out that the escape was a direct result of inadequate security measures and negligence on part of the police team.
Further investigations revealed that CCTV footage captured a disturbing scene where Constable Ahmed Ali appeared to facilitate the suspect’s escape from the hospital grounds. This revelation has intensified scrutiny on the police officials involved, prompting immediate administrative action. The police department has taken the matter seriously and launched a comprehensive departmental inquiry to ascertain the full extent of the officers’ involvement and negligence.
The ongoing inquiry aims to identify all individuals responsible for the breach of security and ensure that stringent disciplinary measures are enforced against those found culpable. This incident has not only embarrassed the local police but also raised public alarm regarding the safety and security protocols for detainees in medical facilities. Authorities have assured the public that corrective steps will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future and to restore confidence in law enforcement operations within the region.
