KARACHI: In a significant parliamentary party gathering held on Sunday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari conveyed his strong approval of the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts and performance. Addressing fellow lawmakers, Bilawal highlighted the commendable management of the province’s affairs by Sindh Chief Minister and his cabinet, despite facing numerous obstacles. He assured that developmental projects in Karachi, which had experienced delays, are poised to recommence shortly, signaling a renewed focus on urban progress.
During his address, Bilawal Bhutto underscored the party’s commitment to resolving issues constructively rather than engaging in political confrontations. He expressed dismay over the criticism directed at officials handling crisis situations, specifically referencing the recent Gul Plaza incident, which he described as “incomprehensible” and unjustified. This stance reflects the PPP leadership’s broader approach to governance, emphasizing problem-solving over blame games.
Furthermore, Bilawal took the opportunity to defend Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Mayor Murtaza Wahab, acknowledging the political opposition he faces within the city. He attributed much of the resistance to Wahab’s leadership to political motivations rather than genuine performance concerns. Bilawal reiterated his confidence in Wahab’s capabilities and leadership, reinforcing the party’s unified front in supporting key officeholders tasked with managing Karachi’s complex urban challenges.
The meeting was attended by other prominent figures including former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, PPP co-chairperson Faryal Talpur, and senior party leaders. The discussions centered on fostering unity within the party and strengthening governance mechanisms amid both domestic and international pressures. Asif Ali Zardari praised the Sindh Chief Minister and his cabinet for their unwavering dedication to public service, encouraging them to persist in delivering relief and essential services despite the difficult circumstances confronting the province.
Bilawal Bhutto also stressed the critical importance of political cohesion during these turbulent times, urging all politicians to align their efforts for the greater good. He assured that the Sindh government, along with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, is prepared to counter any misinformation or propaganda through demonstrable achievements and effective governance. This message reflects the PPP’s strategic focus on tangible results as a means to maintain public trust and political stability in the region.
