In a significant counter-terrorism operation conducted in the Shagai area of Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully neutralized six terrorists. This operation came as a swift response to a tragic incident that had shaken the region just a day earlier. The CTD’s decisive action underscores the ongoing efforts by Pakistan’s security agencies to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in volatile areas.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif publicly lauded the bravery and professionalism displayed by the CTD officers and personnel involved in the operation. He highlighted that the elimination of these six terrorists was a testament to the high level of preparedness and commitment exhibited by the law enforcement agencies in their relentless fight against terrorism. The prime minister emphasized that the government remains steadfast in its resolve to completely eradicate terrorism from the country, reaffirming that the battle will continue until this menace is fully uprooted.
Adding to his commendation, the prime minister expressed deep pride in the sacrifices made by the security forces, acknowledging their dedication and tireless efforts to safeguard the nation. He assured the public that both he and the entire country stand united with the security personnel, supporting their mission to ensure the safety and stability of Pakistan. This statement reflects the government’s broader strategy to boost morale within the security establishment and reinforce public confidence in their capabilities.
The CTD operation was launched shortly after a devastating bomb explosion targeted a police mobile vehicle in Lakki Marwat on Friday. The blast, caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), occurred in the Bettani subdivision and resulted in the deaths of seven police officers. Six officers lost their lives instantly at the scene, while one critically injured officer succumbed to his wounds later at Insafuddin Hospital. This attack marked a grim reminder of the persistent threats faced by law enforcement in the region.
The officers who made the ultimate sacrifice have been identified as SHO Saddar Azam, Constable Namdar, Constable Shah Behram—the driver of the police vehicle—Constable Shah Khalid, along with members of the elite force squad. Their loss has deeply affected the local community and security circles, highlighting the dangerous conditions under which these personnel operate daily. The incident has also intensified calls for enhanced security measures and continued vigilance against militant activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the aftermath of the attack, the swift and effective response by the CTD has been seen as a critical step in disrupting terrorist operations in the area. It also sends a strong message to militant groups that the state’s security apparatus remains vigilant and capable of delivering decisive blows against those who threaten national security. The ongoing operations reflect a broader counter-terrorism strategy aimed at stabilizing the region and protecting civilians from extremist violence.
