Islamabad has announced significant progress in its ongoing military campaign against Taliban militants operating in Afghanistan. Pakistani officials revealed that their forces have successfully killed 663 Taliban fighters and injured 887 others during a series of coordinated air strikes and ground operations. These efforts have targeted multiple Taliban strongholds, resulting in the destruction of numerous militant positions, vehicles, and critical military infrastructure.
The Information Minister of Pakistan provided detailed figures highlighting the scale of the offensive. the statement, Pakistani forces have demolished 249 Taliban checkpoints and seized control of 44 additional posts. This extensive operation has also led to the destruction of 224 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces, severely degrading the Taliban’s combat capabilities. Furthermore, air strikes have targeted 70 locations linked to Taliban and affiliated terrorist groups, including logistical hubs and weapon depots spread across Afghanistan.
Military sources elaborated on the timeline and scope of these operations, noting that a particularly intense phase took place during the night of March 12th to 13th. During this period, Pakistani forces struck Taliban and allied militant facilities in key provinces such as Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. In Kandahar, for instance, the military destroyed an airfield oil storage facility along with adjacent logistical infrastructure, which the Taliban reportedly used to sustain their operations and mobility across the region.
To address concerns raised by Afghan and Indian media outlets, the Pakistani military released footage showing that the air strikes exclusively targeted militant facilities, with no damage inflicted on civilian populations or infrastructure. This evidence was presented to counter allegations that Pakistan’s operations were causing harm to innocent civilians. In Kabul, for example, air strikes successfully destroyed an ammunition depot belonging to the Taliban’s 313 Corps without affecting nearby civilian areas.
The Information Minister emphasized that these operations are part of a broader campaign named “Operation Ghazb lil Haq,” which will continue until Pakistan’s strategic objectives are fully met. The campaign focuses on precision strikes designed to dismantle terrorist networks and their support systems, ensuring minimal collateral damage. Officials reiterated their commitment to combating terrorism while safeguarding civilian lives and infrastructure.
These developments come amid ongoing regional security challenges, with Pakistan intensifying efforts to curb cross-border militancy and stabilize the border areas. The military’s assertive approach reflects Islamabad’s determination to disrupt Taliban operations that threaten peace and security both within Pakistan and across the Afghan border.
