The Karachi Traffic Police have issued an important advisory regarding road closures that will take effect from 12:00 PM today. This move is part of a broader traffic management strategy aimed at alleviating congestion in some of the city’s busiest areas. Motorists are urged to take note of the affected routes and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid unexpected delays.
Among the roads scheduled for closure are the main arteries connecting Boat Basin to Jinnah Bridge and Mai Kolachi. These routes, which typically experience heavy traffic flow during peak hours, will be completely inaccessible to vehicles during the specified period. The authorities have emphasized that this temporary shutdown is necessary to streamline traffic movement and prevent bottlenecks in these critical zones.
In addition to these closures, both lanes running from the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) area to Jinnah Bridge, as well as M.T. Khan Road, will also be off-limits to vehicular traffic. This measure is expected to significantly impact the usual traffic patterns, especially for commuters traveling between the industrial and commercial hubs of Karachi.
To manage the redirected traffic, vehicles approaching from Boat Basin heading towards Mai Kolachi will be instructed to perform a U-turn and return along the same route. This maneuver aims to reduce the buildup of vehicles and maintain a smoother flow in the vicinity. Similarly, traffic moving from PIDC towards Jinnah Bridge will be rerouted through Khajoor Chowk, providing an alternative path that bypasses the closed sections.
Furthermore, vehicles coming from Jinnah Bridge will be diverted towards I.I. Chundrigar Road. This redirection is part of a comprehensive alternative route plan designed to distribute traffic evenly across the network and minimize congestion hotspots. The Karachi Traffic Police have highlighted the importance of adhering to these diversions for the overall effectiveness of the operation.
Commuters are strongly advised to stay updated on traffic developments throughout the day and consider using other routes where possible. The authorities have assured that these closures are temporary and will be lifted once the traffic situation stabilizes. Meanwhile, the public’s cooperation is crucial to ensure that the traffic management efforts yield the desired results and help maintain smoother mobility across Karachi’s busy thoroughfares.
