In anticipation of the upcoming Youm-e-Quds rally, Karachi police have rolled out a detailed traffic management strategy to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety across the city. This announcement comes as the Sindh government has declared a public holiday throughout the province to observe Jumma-tul-Wida, a significant day in the Islamic calendar, which coincides with the rally.
The central event of the Youm-e-Quds rally in Karachi is scheduled to commence shortly after Friday prayers. The procession will begin at Numaish Chowrangi, a key intersection in the city, and will proceed along the busy M.A. Jinnah Road, passing notable landmarks such as Tibet Centre and Aman Tower. This route, known for its heavy traffic during peak hours, is expected to witness significant congestion due to the large number of participants expected to join the rally.
To mitigate traffic snarls and ensure the rally proceeds without major disruptions, the Karachi traffic police have strongly advised motorists to avoid M.A. Jinnah Road during the event. Instead, they have recommended several alternative routes that drivers can take to bypass the affected areas. For instance, vehicles approaching from Gurumandir and Soldier Bazaar will be redirected towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road and the vicinity of Holy Family Hospital, providing a smoother passage away from the rally route.
Similarly, traffic originating from Lasbela will be rerouted through Nishtar Road, Ranchore Line, and near Civil Hospital Karachi, while those coming from Banaras Signal are encouraged to use the routes via PP Chowrangi and Corridor-3. Additionally, vehicles near Tibet Chowk will be diverted towards Regal Chowk and Empress Market, with some traffic also being guided towards Jubilee and Aga Khan Hospital areas. These diversions are designed to distribute the traffic load evenly across the city and prevent bottlenecks.
To facilitate these changes, traffic police personnel will be strategically deployed along all alternative routes to assist commuters, manage traffic flow, and respond promptly to any unforeseen issues. Their presence aims to minimize inconvenience and ensure public safety during the rally. Authorities have also urged citizens to plan their travel in advance, remain patient, and adhere strictly to the designated detours to avoid unnecessary delays.
It is worth noting that such extensive traffic arrangements highlight the importance of the Youm-e-Quds rally in Karachi, reflecting the city’s commitment to accommodating large-scale public gatherings while maintaining order on its roads. Commuters are encouraged to stay updated on traffic advisories and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies during this period.
