Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has called for responsible discourse regarding Pakistan’s foreign policy, especially in light of the heightened tensions in the region. Speaking at a press briefing alongside Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, he underscored Pakistan’s position as a nuclear-armed nation and a key defensive player in South Asia. The minister stressed the importance of measured dialogue to avoid exacerbating already fragile regional dynamics.
Highlighting the gravity of the current geopolitical climate, Azam Nazeer Tarar pointed out that Pakistan’s stance on defense and foreign relations remains firm and clear. He noted that the ongoing situation has generated widespread concern internationally, prompting Pakistan to actively seek diplomatic avenues to resolve conflicts. In an effort to mitigate further escalation, the Law Minister revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his scheduled visit to Russia, maintaining ongoing communication with neighboring countries to navigate the delicate circumstances. While reaffirming citizens’ constitutional right to freedom of expression under Article 19, Azam Nazeer Tarar reminded the public that this freedom comes with legal boundaries, particularly when it concerns sensitive issues such as national security, Islam, and the country’s core interests.
