Islamabad, February 25, 2026 – In an effort to alleviate the financial burden on vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramadan, the Government of Pakistan has introduced the PM Ramzan Relief Package 2026. This initiative is designed to provide much-needed support to low-income households facing the challenges of rising prices on essential commodities. The package combines direct cash assistance with subsidized food items, aiming to ensure that basic needs are met during this spiritually significant period.
The federal relief program offers a one-time cash grant of Rs 13,000 to families who meet the eligibility criteria. Alongside the cash support, beneficiaries will also receive subsidies on staple goods such as flour, sugar, ghee, and pulses, which are made available through Utility Stores nationwide. This dual approach seeks to ease both immediate financial pressures and the cost of daily essentials, helping families maintain their standard of living during Ramadan.
To qualify for this assistance, applicants must either be registered with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) or possess a low Poverty Score determined by the Pakistan Poverty Scorecard (PMT). Priority is given to households identified as low-income, ensuring that aid reaches those most in need. This targeted approach reflects the government’s commitment to social welfare and poverty alleviation during critical times.
Checking eligibility for the PM Ramzan Relief Package has been made accessible and convenient. Individuals can verify their status by sending their 13-digit Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number, without dashes, via SMS to either 9999 or 5566. Alternatively, an online portal at pmrrp.nitb.gov.pk allows applicants to enter their CNIC and receive instant confirmation of their eligibility. This digital facilitation has been widely embraced by Pakistanis seeking quick and reliable updates on their application status.
Meanwhile, residents of Punjab province have an additional option through the Nigehban Ramzan Package, an initiative launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This provincial program offers Rs 10,000 in cash assistance along with a ration bag containing essential food items such as 10 kilograms of flour, 2 kilograms of sugar, 2 kilograms of ghee, and other necessities. The package is tailored to support families with a monthly income below Rs 60,000 who are permanent residents of Punjab.
Punjab residents can check their eligibility for the Nigehban Ramzan Package by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8070. Alternatively, they can visit the official portal at pser.punjab.gov.pk to verify their status online. The system provides clear status messages including “Eligible – Wait for SMS on payment,” “Under Verification – Check again after 2-3 days,” and “Not Registered – Visit BISP office or PSER portal” to guide applicants through the process.
These relief packages reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to provide social safety nets amid economic challenges, particularly during Ramadan when household expenses tend to increase. By combining cash transfers with subsidized food supplies, the programs aim to offer comprehensive support to struggling families across Pakistan. Beneficiaries are encouraged to utilize the available SMS and online services to confirm their eligibility and ensure timely receipt of assistance.
